Kingston, NY is home to a number of historic buildings that have been repurposed and revitalized in recent years. Three of the most notable are The Shirt Factory, The Brush Factory, and The Pajama Factory.
The Shirt Factory, located at 77 Cornell Street, was originally built in the early 20th century as a factory that produced shirts. Today, it has been converted into a mixed-use space that houses artist studios, galleries, and small businesses. Visitors can explore the various art studios, including a ceramics studio and a dance studio, as well as attend events and exhibitions.
The Brush Factory, located at 101 Greenkill Ave, is a historic building that was originally used as a factory producing clothes brushes. Today, it is home to a diverse community of artists and entrepreneurs. The building features a variety of spaces, including artist loft live/work spaces, manufacturers, and a spa.
The Pajama Factory, located at 49 Greenkill Ave, is another historic building that has been repurposed. It was originally built in the early 20th century, also as a factory, this time for the production of pajamas. Today, it is a multi-use building that features apartments and design art studios.
These buildings provide a glimpse into Kingston’s industrial past and showcase how the city is coming alive again with the revitalization of these historic structures.
